(Water and Environment Foundation)
The Water and Environment Foundation (FAMAAC) was legally constituted in December 1999 in Mexico City.

FAMAAC is a Mexican NGO, our principal mission is the to create and develope Self Sustainable projects that iclude research, cultural promotion, education of the ecological environmental care. We work together with rural and semi-urban communities for this porpouse.

1. To work together with the rural and semi-urban population to operate and implement self Sustainable Development Projects.
2. To work together with mountain communities to rescue their natural resources.
3. To coordinate and promote scientific and technical research programs to solve social, economic and ecological problems.
4. To implement alternative solutions with Agro-ecological and Agro-forestry technologies.
5. To promote the well-being of humankind and its natural environment.

6. To promote the cultural rescue with a revitalization and revaluation of traditional knowledge.
7. To help decrease the out of control urban growth.
8. To promote the substitution of agrochemical products for organic, biological products or biodegradable substances that do not damage the environment.
9. To share experiences with other national and international NGO’s involved in the social and ecological well-being.
10. To design material and train human infrastructure with a participative process, following the Rural Sustainable Development’s main subjects.
11. To promote ecological and self-managed education with didactic materials for peasant-to-peasant training.

FAMAAC’s staff has made professional work in self Sustainable Development activities.
Our experience has been focused on searching integral solutions to ecological, social and economic development problems in rural and semi-urban communities.
FAMAAC’s integrants have participated in developing projects in Mexico and Latin America. They have worked with organizations of the United Nations, like FAO, PNUD, and UNICEF; and with financial support of governments such as Holland, Switzerland, Canada, and Spain.
We have also designed projects related to energy in order to face specific problems in Latin America countries.

METHODOLOGYThe Participating Methodologies have been one of the principal issues used in FAMAAC's projects. This Methodology is based in the participating training community following the next steps: diagnostic, planning, implementation, pursuit and self-evaluation. The Participating Methodology shares and combines traditional and technical knowledge with the “learn by doing” process. In this way FAMAAC guarantees sustainable solutions for short and long term results. Another main issue in FAMAAC’s methodology is its gender focus. We always involve all communities participants with equal conditions, including men, women, children and elders.
